The moment of truth:

"Hwa Chong Institution... Gold"
*silence*
*applause*

I hesitated to clap, as I was in a dilemma. Should I feel happy? Should I feel proud? I wasn't sure.

For a band that has been getting golds for the past SYF, getting yet another Gold is but a mere indication that we haven't let the past batches down. It is just another Gold. Although the GWH and Gold is only a 5 marks difference, it means a lot to many SYF participants.

Getting a Gold is just a "Okay, I'm contented" kind of feeling; not the overwhelmingly happy feeling, but just the satisfied and relieved kind of feeling. Although it's true that we worked very hard for SYF, I was still quite satisfied with that gold, even though getting a GWH would be an added bonus.

I felt relieved immediately after the announcement. Relieved, but not *very* happy... Not sure why. Perhaps it's because of the previous trauma. Or perhaps, we have recieved positive comments about our performance, or that we sang very well on stage.

Whatever the case, I'm sure everyone knows that SYF is just only a competition. Nobody loves SYF. It's just that it would be weird for a performing arts group not to join it. A "-" on the SYF record would indicate that the group is a loser or whatever.

Hm. Perhaps SYF is just too insignificant. Even though SYF was just a few hours ago, it felt like it was some long-ago historic event - perhaps an event which happened 7 years ago, after all the celebrations @ Ben & Jerry's.

All in all, the experience was truly cool.
Thanks HCBand.
